Personalized lactation support in the comfort of your home.
Meet Heather
I graduated from Chico State in 2007 with a Bachelors in Nutrition and Food Science and moved to the Redding area soon after to begin my career working with young families. I quickly fell in love with supporting new parents as they learned to feed their babies, which led me to pursue a career in lactation.
In 2010, I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and have since supported hundreds of families. While much of my work was clinic-based, providing home visits left a lasting impression and shaped my long-term goal of offering more personalized, in-home support.
My husband and I welcomed our first child in 2012, and I transitioned into life as a stay-at-home mom. In 2014, our daughter arrived prematurely at 31 weeks gestation, forever deepening my understanding of the challenges families can face. I experienced sleep deprivation, establishing and maintaining a milk supply through exclusive pumping, transitioning from exclusive pumping to exclusive breastfeeding, supporting a premature infant as she learned to eat by mouth, and navigating tongue-tie challenges firsthand.
Over time, our days shifted from diapers and sleepless nights to elementary school, little league, riding lessons, ski club, chickens, 4H meetings and fair. As life settled into a new rhythm, I felt a strong pull to return to supporting families in our community.
Throughout this time, I maintained my IBCLC credential, which required ongoing continuing education and periodic exams. Most recently, I recertified in 2025 with the support of a Good Neighbor Grant through First 5 Shasta. I am grateful to bring both my professional experience and lived understanding back to the families I serve.
Services Provided
Positioning/Latch
Just because breastfeeding is natural, doesn’t mean it comes naturally or is easy even on your fifth baby. Pain, damage, or difficulty with latch and positioning are all common reasons to see a Lactation Consultant.
Lactation after Loss
Not all pregnancies end with a baby coming home. After infant loss—including late-term miscarriage, stillbirth, or SIDS—your body may still produce milk. During this incredibly difficult time, I can help you understand your options and support you in making choices that feel right for your situation and family.
Prenatal Education
Sessions may cover effective latch techniques, recognizing infant feeding cues, building a healthy milk supply, common issues, and discussing any individual medical concerns - helping you feel informed, prepared, and confident before your baby arrives.
Engorgement or Supply concerns
Infant feeding is not one-size-fits-all. What you experience can vary from one pregnancy to another, and changes throughout the course of lactation. You’re not alone in navigating those shifts.
Pumping
Whether you’re exclusively pumping, returning to work, supporting a NICU baby, or pumping for any number of other reasons, I can help. Together, we’ll develop a plan that fits your goals and your life, and I’ll guide you through the many pump and flange options to help you find what works best for your body and your baby.
Weaning
Have you decided it’s time to wean? I can help you create a plan that feels right for you and your baby. Together, we’ll focus on a gentle, thoughtful approach that supports your comfort and your goals.
Payment
To make sure I can offer the best possible care without being limited by insurance requirements, my services are provided on a private, cash-pay basis. I don’t bill insurance companies directly, and payment is due at the time of your visit.
After payment, you’ll receive a detailed receipt (often called a “superbill”) with all the information you need if you’d like to submit a claim to your insurance company. Many families are able to receive partial reimbursement, but I can’t guarantee coverage. I encourage you to check with your insurance provider ahead of time so you know what to expect and understand their claim process.
Payment accepted is cash, Visa/Mastercard, HSA/FSA, Venmo, or Zelle.
